Health & Safety
We pride ourselves on our excellent Health and Safety record. The feedback that we receive from Companies, Schools and Youth Organisations, Families and Stag & Hen Groups continually rates Oaker Wood as a friendly, caring and safe environment in which their organisation can participate and enjoy all activities whilst on site.
What qualifications/certifications do your staff have?
All of our staff are required to pass enhanced DBS checks, and senior Instructors all hold First Aid Certificates. Every staff member receives extensive in-house training, and throughout the year our staff are regularly monitored across the activities we offer.
ERCA(European Ropes Course Association) – all of our Senior Instructors hold ERCA Qualifications and all staff undergo an annual CPD refresher course with a qualified ERCA instructor to renew and refresh their training.
What are your health and safety procedures?
We have comprehensive risk assessments for all of our activities and a Health & Safety policy, which are regularly monitored and reviewed. Please get in touch to request copies.
Equipment
All our safety equipment is checked prior to all activity sessions. We have a rigorous inspection procedure as outlines in our policies and all equipment is replaced as per industry guidelines.
Food Hygiene
Food is procured from reputable sources and stored safely. Food hygiene is controlled by trained staff, our kitchens are also inspected by the food hygiene agency.
Accessibility & Inclusivity
We have an accessible toilet onsite. Regarding activities we ask that individuals contact us with requirements. We try to work around visitors individual needs where possible.
Sustainability
We believe in looking after the environment, we work in a woodland environment and so our environment is key to our success. We recycle as much as possible, and we aim to run our business in a sustainable way. We use our own borehole for our water and have recently upgraded all water tanks onsite to ensure they work efficiently with no evaporation. During winter months and quieter periods water is turned off in camps and in paintball to ensure we are as water wise as possible.
Insurance?
We have our own comprehensive public liability insurance to cover all of our visitors whilst on site, however you will need to take out trip insurance to cover yourselves for any eventualities during the journey, or if you need to cancel the trip.
Registration and Consent Forms
For private parties we ask all parents to complete a Parental Consent form agreeing to their child participating in the activities. All participants aged 16+ should complete an activity registration form on arrival.
All forms are available to download here.
